Alejandro Alarcón is a photographer and graphic designer born and raised in Mexico. He grew up around toys, mostly Batmans, video games, drawings and rock music, the latter thanks to his two older brothers. When he wasn’t home, he was at his dad’s printing workshop where he would spent entire days watching dad and his co-workers up until late hours, always fascinated by the process of seeing doodles on a sheet of paper being transformed into nice-clean designs printed on an endless amount of materials.
In his late teens, he turned his attention to photography when he moved to Ensenada, Baja California and started working for an internet startup. Playing around with DSLR cameras at the office and experimenting with artificial lights, he had found his calling, or so he thought. A few years later, what was meant to be a one-month visit to his brother in London turned into a 2 year stint between the British capital, Helsinki and many travels in between.
In London, he worked with local models to develop his portfolio and style as a photographer, and because of his deep interest in the music industry he became an assistant for Tina Korhonen, a renowned rock photographer who taught him loads about the industry and got first-hand experience of how it works. It was during this time when he found a reignited passion for illustration and design.
Now here he is, back in Mexico, merging all these things he’s passionate about into a diverse, yet cohesive body of work. Interested in working with brands, individuals and organisations with high ideals, and connecting with people with a strong sense of community and a purpose bigger than just a fat wallet.
